So, like a lot of you, I am a huge fan of reading the classic ‘What I eat in a Day’ posts. I love seeing inside peoples fridges, hearing about what they create to use as fuel for the day and just generally the recipes that people are making.
Today we are going to be doing exactly that…with a twist. Its time to talk about what I drink in a day because hydration!!
I am a self-confessed water obsessive. I never without my water bottle. I mean it also means that I am always ware of the nearest bathroom, but if it means staying use hydrated then I am all for it.
Without further ado, let dive in to what I drink in a day to stay hydrated and energetic.
I feel like water goes without saying. The OG of all hydration.
I will wake up and have at least half a litre of water before I leave the house, and that is just the beginning!
Dehydration is not cool and our body needs water or other fluids to work properly. That’s why it’s important to drink enough fluids. It is recommended that we should drink about 1.2 litres (six to eight glasses) of fluid every day to stop us getting dehydrated.
With that being said, my job means that I am on my feet for the majority of the day so I usually have about 2-3 litres but you know what feels good for you!
From improving the quality and hydration of your skin to increasing energy and reliving fatigue, keeping up on drinking water throughout the day can make a real difference!
PSA: This is a great opportunity to practice protecting the environment by ensuring you use a refillable water bottle. Single use plastics are the biggest contributor of plastic waste including water and drinks bottles.
Warm Water & Lemon
Want to hydrate and incorporate water into your morning in a different way? This could be the way for you!
Warm water with lemon first thing in the morning can be a super easy, quick way to aid digestion and hydrate the body.
It can be most effective to do this first thing in the morning as your body has not been hydrated for the time you have been asleep.
The lovely dose of vitamins C and the tummy-friendly warm water can set the gut up for the day ahead.
Green Tea is not just a way to stay hydrated. This incredible tea is loaded with important nutrients and anti-inflammatory aids to give you benefits all through the day.
‘Green tea is loaded with polyphenol antioxidants, including a catechin called EGCG. These antioxidants can have various beneficial effects on health.’
Decaffeinated Green Tea will supply you with a similar effect to that of a cup of coffee and contains ‘catechins’ which are essentially antioxidants that can kill bacteria and maintain weight.
It is worth mentioning that Green Tea is not everyone tastes. It can be potent and incredibly earthy. If you feel the this is the case, add a plant-based sweetener like Steevia or a dollop of honey for taste.
